Part-Time Drop In Center Staff

  • The Part-Time Drop In Center Staff assists program staff, case navigators and senior leadership with daily Drop In Center operations, and engages participants in accessing services.

    • Salary: $17 per hour; up to 25 hours per week

    • Location: Albuquerque, New Mexico

    • Required Scheduling Availability: Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays 12pm- 6:30pm

    • Travel: Not applicable

    • Reports to: Drop In Center Coordinator

    • Advocates for the mission of the organization and upholds the agency’s values.

    • Ensure participants are complying with Drop In Center guidelines and procedures.

    • Delivers Drop In Center services with safety, respect, and effectiveness.

    • Assesses participant needs and offers assistance in every manner practical.

    • Monitors participant behavior to ensure adherence to policies and procedures of the organization.

    • Prepares meeting spaces, offices, and open spaces for services or participant use.

    • Facilitates storage of personal items for participants.

    • Maintains order and assists in keeping all assigned areas clean and free of spills, trash, and safety hazards.

    • Checks daily activities and chores as assigned.

    • Ensures donations received during assigned shifts are properly collected, organized, and stored.

    • Completes all logs and incident reports in a timely manner.

    • Provides immediate and professional response to any security/safety emergency or disturbance within or immediately outside the facility.

    • Performs other duties as assigned by TGRCNM senior leadership, within the mission and values of the organization.

    • General understanding of drop in center/day center/shelter operations requiring a keen attention to detail, task completion, and accountability.

    • Demonstrated client/customer service skills.

    • Ability to work on multiple projects, set priorities, and meet deadlines.

    • Strong time management skills; ability to manage downtime effectively to enhance productivity.

    • Proactive in communicating task or project status to colleagues and management.

    • Proven conflict management and de-escalation abilities.

    • Ability to interrupt/challenge bias and discrimination and engage with people in a manner that promotes equity and inclusion.

    • Proficiency in the use of Microsoft applications and Google Business Suite.

    • Spanish-language proficiency is a plus.

    • Strong commitment to serving marginalized and disconnected communities.

  • The physical demands and work environment characteristics described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this position.     • Physical demands: Sitting, walking, lifting up to 20 pounds, reaching, carrying, speaking, listening.

    • Work environment:

      • An environment of high stress and fast pace of crisis intervention. The protocol for safety and security is a priority. Use of phones, in-person assistance, computer, fax, and other general office machinery.

      • The TGRCNM Drop In Center is a community-based, low- to no-barrier space where individuals with a wide range of needs are present and access services. Participants may present in states of mental and/or emotional distress that are different than experienced in common service provider spaces, which can increase stress for all those involved. 

      • Staff will be expected to handle food distribution. 

      • Staff will be expected to collaborate with their team members in cleaning common areas of the facility including pantry areas, bathrooms, laundry spaces, and more.
