  • Provides counseling, therapy, to participants and families on a drop-in basis in our community drop-in center. Provides therapeutic crisis intervention and emergency services as required. Brings additional therapy modalities to participants that would otherwise be inaccessible.

    • Salary: $33 -$35 per hour; up to 25 hours per week

    • Location: Albuquerque, New Mexico

    • Travel: Not applicable.

    • Provides counseling/therapy to participants and families as appropriate to the position; provides therapeutic crisis intervention and emergency services as required.

    • Determines participants' needs by completing intake interviews; determining need for medical, psycho-social, legal, and emergency resources.

    • Provides and/or arranges for therapeutic interventions as appropriate for participants or participants in a crisis condition.

    • Makes recommendations regarding modification to services and service delivery.

    • Consults with other legal and treatment agencies and individuals in relation to participant/participant records, rights, and responsibilities.

    • Monitors participants by ongoing interactions with participants during service hours. Advocating for needed services; obtaining additional resources; intervening in crises; providing personal support.

    • Communicates participants' progress on a regular basis and disseminates results and obstacles to support team.

    • Improves staff competence by providing educational resources and training opportunities.

    • Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations.

    • Consults with other therapists and related professionals in the performance of therapeutic and/or casework; refers participants to appropriate service agencies as required.

    • Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

    • Master's degree in Counseling, Social Work, or directly related field; at least 2 years of directly related experience. Certification/Licensure NM licensure as LPCC, LPC, LMHC, LMSW, LCSW, or equivalent level.

    • Strong preference for applicant who has completed EMDR or other direct trauma treatment modalities courses.

    • Client intake, documentation, or related experience requiring data collection, confidentiality, and attention to detail.

    • Ability to work on multiple projects, set priorities, and meet deadlines.

    • Strong time management skills; ability to manage downtime effectively to enhance productivity.

    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; proactive in communicating task or project status to colleagues and management.

    • Demonstrated administrative acumen; general understanding of operations requiring a keen attention to detail, task completion, and accountability.

    • Demonstrated client/customer service skills.

    • Proven conflict management and de-escalation abilities.

    • Ability to interrupt/challenge bias and discrimination and engage with people in a manner that promotes equity and inclusion.

    • Proficiency in the use of Microsoft applications and Google Business Suite.

    • Spanish-language proficiency is a plus.

    • Strong commitment to serving marginalized and disconnected communities.

    • Compassionate and caring; able to see everyone as deserving of care and respect.

    • Strong ability to collaborate and communicate with people from varied life experiences.

    • High-integrity work ethic; commitment to work alongside staff, volunteers, and interns.

  • The physical demands and work environment characteristics described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this position.     • Physical demands: Sitting, walking, lifting up to 20 pounds, reaching, carrying, speaking, listening.

    • Work environment: ●      An environment of high stress and fast pace of crisis intervention. The protocol for safety and security is a priority. Use of phones, in-person assistance, computer, fax, and other general office machinery.
