Casa Lola Resident Assistant

  • The TGRCNM Housing Program provides a transitional housing resource and support services to transgender, gender nonconforming, nonbinary, and gender variant people exiting homelessness. The Casa Lola Resident Assistants supports the housing program through specialized support to participants focusing on obtaining employment, financial literacy, health and wellness, and meeting program expectations. Casa Lola Resident Assistants support the Housing Program Manager and interact with participants through programmatic activities, help to maintain the cleanliness of the residence, and provide individualized support. This position is part-time and requires staff members to pass a driver’s record check prior to hiring as they will be transporting our residents around Albuquerque in our company vehicle.

    • Salary: $17 -$18 per hour; up to 40 hours per week

    • Location: Albuquerque, New Mexico

    • Travel: During scheduled hours, inside Albuquerque using our company vehicle.

    • Reports to: Drop In Center Coordinator

    • Supports resident’s individualized goals through conversations, support, and communication with Housing Program Manager.

    • Prepares meals nightly for residents and helps them complete household responsibilities.

    • Communicate and collaborate with other staff from TGRCNM to ensure our housing program is meeting organizational goals.

    • Supports the Housing Program Manager with individualized support for residents.

    • Performs cleaning duties, household needs, and tasks as assigned with direction from the program manager.

    • Helps transport residents to appointments, meetings, and other transportation needs.

    • Meets with Housing Program Manager monthly to talk about goals and progress.

    • Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reads professional publications; maintains personal networks; participates in professional organizations.

    • Preserves the integrity of the program and organization, demonstrating commitment to the TGRCNM vision and mission.

    • Attends all meetings and trainings, as required.

    • 2 years of experience working with populations who are unhoused or unsheltered and/or lived experience as a person who has experienced housing insecurity or homelessness.

    • Ability to work on multiple projects, set priorities, and meet deadlines.

    • Strong time management skills; ability to manage downtime effectively to enhance productivity.

    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; proactive in communicating task or project status to colleagues and management.

    • Demonstrated administrative acumen; general understanding of health provider operations requiring a keen attention to detail, task completion, and accountability.

    • Demonstrated client/customer service skills.

    • Proven conflict management and de-escalation abilities.

    • Ability to interrupt/challenge bias and discrimination and engage with people in a manner that promotes equity and inclusion.

    • Ability to operate a motor vehicle with a driving record with no moving or criminal violations in the two years prior to hire.

    • Spanish-language proficiency is a plus.

    • Strong commitment to serving marginalized and disconnected communities.

    • Compassionate and caring; able to see everyone as deserving of care and respect.

    • Strong ability to collaborate and communicate with people from varied life experiences.

    • Physical demands: Sitting, walking, lifting up to 20 pounds, reaching, carrying, speaking, listening.

    • Work environment: ●      An environment of high stress and fast pace of crisis intervention. The protocol for safety and security is a priority. Use of phones, in-person assistance, computer, fax, and other general office machinery.
